Thoughts: Paper — Best task tracker?

I spend so much time looking for the “best” task tracker. I’ve tried different task-tracking software such as Trello, Todoist, Notion, GitHub Projects, Jira, YouTrack, and much more. While they were ok at first I always started ignoring them after some time. The reason is they started to feel overwhelming to use.

What actually works for me now is — a simple pen + sheet of paper — lying right on my desk.

Why I think it’s easier

• I can just grab a pen and note task — no need to open software, go through complex forms
• Free form — I don’t care about cards, tables, projects, priorities
• Offline access — I think about work — too much — and sometimes I have a task to do that I forgot to note, I can do it immediately on paper vs. opening software…

When the paper does not work

• Offline access — is both pros and cons, the issue with that is when I’m away I cannot note tasks in my paper that lies at home at my desk. For that, I use Todoist installed right on my phone.
